The Investigation deals with the tumultuous events surrounding
the RCMP's quest for Canada's most notorious serial killer, Clifford
Olson. In 1981, Olson was considered the principal suspect by
two young officers, each investigating separate cases. However,
due to crossed wires and jurisdictional chaos, he was allowed
to continue his murderous rampage until he was finally arrested
and imprisoned.
The Investigation is told primarily through the eyes of the
two officers, Corporal Les Forsythe portrayed by Nick
Lea (The X-Files, Once A Thief) and Corporal Darryll
Kettles, played by Lochlyn Munro (Dracula, Scary Movie).
UK actors David Warner (Planet of the Apes,Titanic)
and Reece Dinsdale (Young Catherine, Lovejoy) play
Superintendent Bruce Northorp and RCMP investigator Teddy Boulder,
respectively.
"I became interested in the project after reading the book
Where
Shadows Linger written by two retired Mounties closely
linked to the case," says Zukerman. "It offers Canadians
a rare opportunity to lift the veil of secrecy shrouding one of
the country's most important institutions in the context of what
went wrong in the Olson investigation. The story uncovers issues
that are worth examining, as they are problems that may well still
exist within the RCMP today."

"Both Bernie Zukerman and Anne Wheeler have a reputation
for taking on tough subject matter and handling it with integrity,"
says Calgary producer Wendy Hill-Tout. "Care has been taken
to focus on the system rather than the criminal. While they may
be painful, these kinds of stories need to be told so we can learn
from them -- our hope is that no one else will suffer from the
same mistakes."
